Tarbiyyah (upbringing) of children is among the greatest deeds that do not cease, for every good deed that they learn and act upon the reward is for the one who taught them, and if they go on to teach their children the reward would be for the first teacher.

تربية الأولاد من أعظم الأعمال التي لا تنقطع، فكل عمل صالح تعلموه وعملوا به فالأجر لمن علّمهم ولو علَّموا ذرياتهم لكان الأجر للمعلّم الأول

Happiness is attained by three things: being patient when tested, being thankful when receiving a blessing, and being repentant upon sinning.

Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya

Allah does not change the condition of people unless they themselves change. Thus, He sends down afflictions or blessings when their causes become prevalent among them:

{ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّى يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ }
“Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” [Al-Raʿd 13:11]

لا يُغيّر الله أحوال الناس إلا إذا تغيّروا، فيُنزل البلاء والنّعم إذا توفرت فيهم أسبابها (إن الله لا يغير ما بقوم حتى يغيروا ما بأنفسهم)

How do I become a Muslim?

The Shahada can be declared as follows :

The English translation is :

“I bear witness that there is no deity (none truly to be worshipped) but, Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah.”

However, it would not be sufficient for anyone to only utter this testimony oraly either in private or in public; but rather, he should believe in it by heart with a firm conviction and unshakeable faith. If one is truly sincere and complies with the teachings of Islam in all his life, he will find himself a new born person.
